Idealism

Aims of Education as Per Idealism : The aim of education as per idealism is to contribute to the development of the mind and self of the learner. The aims of education as per idealism theory can be further categorised into the following :

(1) Self-realisation or Exhalation of Personality : Idealism considers ‘man’ as the grandest work of God. It focuses on self-realization.

Aims of education from idealism point of view focuses or the abilities approach of education. Approach of education is divided into 3 parts :

(a) Concept of topic should be cleared first.
(b) Thereby increasing student’s logical abilities.
(c) Finally, making student’s thinking liberal.

(2) To Ensure Spiritual Development : Another aim of idealism to words education is the spiritual development of oneself. Idealism is more focused on developing spiritual plane rather than materialistic plane of child.

(3) Development of Intelligences and Rationality : Idealism believes in the concept of overall development of mind. Overall development of mind at all possible level leads to increase in the ability of rationality, self-realization, making free from the bandage of useless thoughts, which in turn makes a man fit for all phases of life.

Idealism and Curriculum : Idealists give more importance to thoughts, feelings, ideals and values them to child and his/her activities. They firmly hold that curriculum should be concerned with the whole humanity and its experience.
