Question- Write a note on playway in education and mention the important method of teaching based on playway.
Answer-
Froebel - Froebel is considered the 'father of the game system'. But in the modern era, Henry was the first person who strongly supported this system for educating the child. According to H. Caldwell Cook : “It is the core of my faith that the only work worth doing is really play, for by play. I mean doing anything with one’s heart in it.”
According to them, the child does any work, with full heart when he is in a game. It is necessary to adopt the method of the game for doing every work in it. The work done through play activates the physical, mental, social and spiritual power of the child. Harmony is established in his work and thought and he moves on the path of progress. Thus a new method of teaching was started by Caldwell, called the play-way. According to Hughes and Hughes "The method that enables children to learn with the same enthusiasm that characterises their spontaneous play is often called play-way".
