The following factors are responsible for girls not getting access to school :
➤ The illiterate parents of the girl do not want to send the girl to school.

➤ Remote location of schools and lack of educational facilities. Sometimes there is no school in a village and one has to go to another village for education. Parents do not want to send their girl child to another village.
➤ Many schools do not even have separate toilet facilities for girls.
➤ Many girls drop out of studies in the middle, there is a shortage of female partner, due to which those girls who want to study further, their studies may remain incomplete.
➤ Inconvenience of means of transport and lack of pucca roads in the village is also a major reason for illiteracy.

Efforts that can be made for the education of girl child

➤ Initiate participatory processes that enable local communities to play an active role in school management. To increase the enrollment and retention of girls in school.
➤ Guidance and training that increase sensitivity to the needs of girls and develop a gender conscious perspective.
➤ The level of education should be raised in such a way that literacy is not limited to just signing, at least writing, reading and understanding can be done.
