Violence in the domestic sphere is called domestic violence. Domestic violence includes physical, mental, emotional, verbal, psychological or sexual abuse of a woman by any person with whom the woman has a family relationship.

Legal Definition of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence has been defined in “Section 2005 of the Protection of Women Against Domestic Violence Act”.

➤ “Any act, omission or commission of any act of the defendant shall amount to domestic violence.
➤ To cause injury or injury or to endanger the health, life, limbs or interest of the victim mentally or physically commits or intends to do so and includes physical, sexual, verbal and emotional and economic abuse; or
➤ To compel a woman or her relatives to meet an illegal demand for dowry or other property or valuable security to torture, harm or endanger the victim; or
➤ To have the effect of a threat to the victim or her immediate relatives by any of the conduct included in clause (a) or (b) above; or
