Article 45 of Indian Constitution

Article 45 of the Constitution of India makes provision for free and compulsory education for children. The state endeavour to provide for free and compulsory education for all children until the complete the age of 14 year. In pursuance of this Article the government has passed RTE Act. Right of children to free and Compulsory Education Act (Article 45 of Indian Constitution) is also known as ‘Right to Education Act or RTE’ is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 Aug, 2009. It aims for free and compulsory education of children who meet up the following eligibility rules :

1. All children who fall under the age group of 6-14 years can get free education from class 1 to class 8 in nearby government school or aided school.
2. Poor or underprivileged children get free education till class 8 in a private school.
3. Children who have never been to schools or more dropped out can get back to suitable classes as per their age.

This Act also laid down rules for pupil-teacher ratio, teacher vacancies and their duties.
