Question- Throw light on good mental health tips for teacher.
Answer-
The teachers plays an important role in maintaining the mental health of the children. The teacher is especially helpful in whatever work of the school, done for the advancement of the mental health of the children. Therefore the mental health of the teacher is also very important. Unless the teacher is mentally fit, he cannot be expected to improve the mental health of the children. The right use of mental science is possible only when the teacher class, keeping a good attitude towards the children, properly fulfills his educational duty and responsibility. For this, it is necessary for the teacher to take interest in his profession and work. It is necessary that efforts should be made to remove mental illness of teachers and to maintain mental health.
Factors Hindering Teachers Mental Health
(1) Insufficient Salary : The first reason that hinders the mental health of teachers that they receive inadequate and irregular salaries. Due to non-availability of salary to the teachers of our country, their economic condition is not good. In such as a situation when their needs are not satisfied their physical and mental health deteriorates.
(2) Lack of Job Security : Now a days the conditions of teachers in aided schools has become very pathetic. Where there is no job security for them, their jobs are at the mercy of the managers. There is neither knowledge nor interest about the subject. It is also seen that the teachers are given some other salary and some more are written on the paper.
(3) More Work Load : In schools, teachers have to do the following tasks, such as preparing the lesson for teaching, keeping discipline in the class, giving written work in the class, correcting the situation in the class grinding, checking examination, making progress paper, coming with in the subject, making arrangements and to carry out the work of another teacher when he goes on leavers. In this way, due to heavy work load, the state of mental stress remains.
(4) Lack of Teaching Material : In order to give proper education to the children, there should be a provision of suitable aids for teaching in the school.
In the absence of teaching material, the teacher has to speak and explain more so that mental fatigue remains in him due to this, his mental health is also affected.
(5) Lack of Respect in the Society : The teacher class does not get respect due to inadequate salary in the society. Due to unsatisfactory salary, teachers do not like this occupation. In ancient times the guru held the highest position in the society, but today the materialistic approach has changed this ideology. These factor affect the mental health of the teachers.
(6) Control Over External Function : A teacher is prohibited from doing all kind of work such as writing articles, taking tuitions to children, appearing in any examination to increase educational qualification, participating in political, cultural and social work etc. In this way, the teacher can neither earn money nor develop his talent to impose his financial condition. In such as a situation, things keep suffocating in his mind due to the fear of losing his job, and his mental health falls.
(7) Autocratic Administration : There are many such schools where the principal, employs, the managers and supervisor from terrorize teachers over talk. Causal leave is not granted when required. The teacher is always afraid. In arbitrary management there is dissatisfaction among the teachers so their mental health is not maintain even in the atmosphere of terror.
(8) Interpersonal Conflict Among Teachers : In schools, conflicts go on between the teachers and the principal for whatever reason. In such a situation, teachers experience mental disturbance.
(9) Lack of Entertainment for Teachers : Teachers work hard everyday in the school. They need entertainment after mental exertion, but due to non-availability of means of entertainment according to their, mental tension remains in them.
(10) Supervision of Teaching Work : In primary and secondary schools, the district school inspector comes to supervise the work of teachers. In this inspection no instructions are given regarding the teacher system or any suggestions for the advancement of training. Most of the time, it has been seen that the inspectors observe with a biased approval and sometimes their remarks endanger the job of the teacher. As a result these school teachers look at with fear.
