Question- Write the formula of Educational Quotient (E.Q.)

Answer-

Educational Quotient or academic scores is psycho-educational parameter to define and recognize the educational backwardness of school going children. Through Educational Quotient we know that whether the level of knowledge attained by the child is in compliance with his age group or not. For defining a child educational backward, Burt has set a level i.e. E. Q. 85, scores above than this tells about normal child and below about backwardness. The formula for Education Quotient is given below :

E. Q. = (E.A. / C.A.) × 100

Where, E. Q. = Educational Quotient.
E. A. = Educational age. (pupils average level of achievement)
C. A. = Chronological age.

The example to know the E.Q. is like this supposes the chronological age of the chid is 12 years. His mental age in Maths is equal to the age of 10 years of age and in studies is equal to 8 years of age. In Maths the averagemental age comes to be 11 years (E.A. = 10 + 8/2 = 9 years).

So, E. Q. = (9/12) × 100 = 75.

The E.Q. of that child is 75, which is less than 85, hence the child is a educational backward child.
