Significant progress has been made in female education in India in the last years, but even today the level of literacy among women is much lower than that of men. For this, many personal, social, economic and cultural reasons are responsible, which create obstacles in reaching the light of education to girls and women, some of the main reasons are as follows :
➤ The male dominated society of the villages still does not consider the education of the girl child as important. Education of the girl child is also not given due attention because they have to go to another family after marriage and often do not have to go to jobs.
➤ The feeling of insecurity of their girl child in the mind of the parents also prevents her to go out of the house to study.
➤ Financial constraints are also the main reason for women being illiterate. A poor man thinks that if his daughter stays at home and looks after younger siblings, both the parents can earn money by working outside to feed their children.
