बी.एड. सेमेस्टर-1 प्रश्नपत्र-IV-C - जेण्डर, स्कूल एण्ड सोसाइटी (अंग्रेजी भाषाा में)
Question- Who are the security officers and what do they do?
Answer -
Security officers play a very important role in the Domestic Violence Act. They work with government and non-governmental organizations. They are qualified and have at least three years’ experience of working in the social sector. The state government deputes such officers, who are mostly women, in every district for a minimum period of three years and their work is taken into account.
The job of the security officer is to help the victim at every step. They help the victim to file the domestic violence report in the prescribed format. They inform the victim about their rights and help the victim in writing an application for providing assistance under this Act. These officers also assist the magistrate in disposal of domestic violence cases and ensure that the orders passed by the magistrate are complied with in the best interest of the victim.
Security officers are also required to take stock of the situation and prepare a security plan as per Form V of the Domestic Violence Rules, 2005. All this is done for the purpose of advising and implementing appropriate measures to prevent the frequency of domestic violence.
The Security Officer is bound to provide all possible assistance to the victim, from her medical examination to her transportation and accommodation in the shelter, provided she is not safe at her home. First, the security officer has to prepare a list of all the service providers involved in his jurisdiction for legal aid services, counselling, medical aid, or shelter of a victim in need.
